Who has two thumbs and is posting a healthy recipe? This girl. Enjoy it while it lasts, because my upcoming list of recipes to make is a bit naughty. Apple chips are one of those deceiving snacks though, your brain will think you’re eating dessert when you’re really eating a sweet and healthy snack. Bonus, your house will smell amazing while these babies are crisping up in the oven.
Apple Chips Printer-Friendly Recipe
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 2-2 1/2 hours plus 1 hour to rest
1 large apple or 2 medium apples (Honey Crisp, Granny Smith, or Gala)
Cinnamon + Sugar
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Line 2 baking sheets with baking liners or parchment paper.
Thinly slice the apples using a mandolin (for thinner, crisper chips) or a sharp knife (for thicker, chewier chips). Core the center of the rings or remove the seeds. Place the apples on the baking sheets in a single layer. Sprinkle the apples on one or both sides with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Bake for 1 hour and then flip the chips. Bake for 1-1 1/2 more hours or until the apples have dried out. Turn off the oven and let the chips sit in the oven for 1 more hour to finish crisping up. Store in an airtight container for 1 week. Enjoy!
