Friday Favorites

Happy Friday to you!  I’m in a festive mood today, perhaps it’s because Oktoberfest will be happening all weekend long, right outside of our loft.  It might be noisy, but it’s fun to people watch from the deck and I foresee Josh and I venturing out there to feast on some German eats this weekend.  Schnitzel, Knödel, and Brautwurst all sound pretty delicious to me.  Whatever your plans may be, I hope you all have a lovely fall weekend!  Now please enjoy my favorite finds from around the web in this week’s Friday Favorites.

Favorite Cake: Hot Chocolate Cake.  If the weather is not quite cool enough for you to make hot chocolate, don’t let that stop you from making hot cocoa in cake form.

Favorite Flats: Village Woven Ballet Pumps.  Before I jump right into boot season, I musn’t forget the beauty of a good fall flat.  Yes, I think this pair will do.  Only $15!!!

Favorite Soup: Smoky Bacon & Corn Chowder.  This is no wimpy soup, it will fill you up and leave you happy.

Favorite Candle Cover: Burlap and Lace Candle.  I find this look very pretty and quite suitable for fall.

Favorite Appetizer: Pumpkin Pie Cheese Appetizers.  If there’s one food I love as much as pumpkin, it’s cheese for sure.

Favorite Leaf Saver: How to preserve leaves.  Martha Stewart comes to the rescue with this fall decor project.  Stop buying leaves and start preserving your own.

Favorite Dip: Cheesy Jalapeno Bacon Dip with Tater Tot Crust.  Say what?  Tater Tot Crust…yes, I will eat that.

Favorite Kitchen Tip: Place a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water to prevent the water from boiling over.  I’ve gotta try this!

Favorite CookiesSoft Apple Oatmeal Cookies.  Hello there cookie, I’m going to eat you.

Favorite October 31st Decor: Halloween Decorating Ideas.  I know, I know…Halloween is over a month away, but have you seen all of the candy in the grocery stores?  It is calling my name, “Melissa please pick us” whisper the candy bars when all I’m trying to buy is fruit.

Favorite Casserole: Winter Squash Casserole loaded with squash, apples, cranberries, raisins, and pecans.  Those ingredients sound like they would pair perfectly together.

Favorite Fashion: This look.  I just love all things chambray and denim.  I’m not even Canadian.

Favorite Drinks: 3 Healthy Recipes for Fall Smoothies.  Oatmeal Pear, Power Pumpkin Seed, and Apple Pie Chia.  Who says you have to ditch smoothies when colder weather hits?  Not this lady.

Favorite MusicNew music from The Avett Brothers!  Their new album Magpie and the Dandelion is coming out on October 15th, but they stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon this week to perform a song from the album.  Huzzah!!!  (Follow the link to see the performance, I had problems embedding the video)Magpie_and_the_Dandelion_(The_Avett_Brothers)_cover_artHappy Friday!
